  • Dancing in the Midwest

Juanita attended the St. Louis Star Ball with her student, Larry Patterson, on March 12th. Had a fantastic time in St. Louis. This was his first go at American Rhythm. Despite a tumble while dancing one of their East Coast Swings, Larry wowed the crowd with his tenacity and determination to keep dancing! American Smooth styles were the following day. “Larry keeps improving every time he gets out there. Couldn’t be prouder!” – Juanita

Christopher and Juanita competed Friday and Saturday evenings. They placed 5th in the Rising Star and 6th in the Open. They were also honored to participate in the show Saturday evening. Steve Brockman and David & Suzy Nyemchek were, as always, wonderful hosts!

  • Rhythm Dancing From Coast to Coast

Not even a quarter of the way into 2015, Christopher and Juanita have traveled from the west coast to the east coast and back several times over. The end of January took them to sunny California for the City Lights Ball where they took their 1st WIN OF THE YEAR!!!

Next up was Maryland DanceSport Championships. With big competition both nights, they were disappointed not to make it past the quarter final in the Rising Star Rhythm event. However, on night two in the Open Rhythm and with a change in costuming (thanks to their sponsor, Dore Exquisite Designs), the duo ended up in the semi-final!

The following weekend kept Christopher and Juanita in the East, this time at the New York Dance Festival. Again, there was plenty of competition yet they were able overcome most of them out of the quarter-final placing 5th in the Rising Star Rhythm and being semi-finalists in the Open.

The beginning of March brought a nice bit of snow in Nashville causing the couple to miss out in participating in the Rising Star event at the Vegas Open. Christopher and Juanita did manage to get there in time and were pleased to make it into the semi-final (from a quarter) in the Open Rhythm.

Next up on their schedule: St. Louis Star Ball!

  • Dancing our tails off in 2015

Christopher and Juanita finished 2014 at the Ohio Star Ball where they debueted a custom dress designed by Project Runway All-Star, Johnathan Kayne.

A busy year is planned for 2015. The team kicked off their 28 competition tour with students at the Nashville Starz Dance Specacular. Congrats to Beth Forehand and Ty Miller! This was Beth’s first time out with Christopher and she made all her finals! Ty took all firsts including “Top Solo” and was asked to dance it again for the crowd on Saturday evening. Larry Patterson competed for second time with Juanita and showed considerable improvement. On Saturday, Beth danced/competed with her husband, John for the first of many  in Standard. They looked beautiful on the floor together. In addition to dancing with wonderful students, Christopher and Juanita were thrilled to have all their students, friends and family there to cheer them on. They placed 5th in Rising Star and 6th in the Open. Next up, City Lights!

  • Weekend Full of Great Dancing

The North American Imperial Star 2014 was held in Indianapolis, IN. Several students competed with Christopher and Juanita all three days. The hard work that Suzanne Burton, Guerline Evariste, and Larry Patterson put in preparation paid off. This was Patterson’s first competition with Juanita and she is “thrilled with his performance and looking forward to more together!”

In addition to dancing with their students, Christopher and Juanita took their first win in Rising Star Rhythm of the year! They placed 3rd in the Open Rhythm the following night.

    See video of their win.
